Dr. McElveen grew up in Clearwater, FL, far away from the lifestyle of natural medicine. She was always drawn to medicine, but nothing quite felt right when looking at allopathic medical schools. After graduating from Countryside High School, Dr. M. tried several different majors in undergraduate school – psychology, computer science, even musical theatre. Finally, she took a break and traveled around the country, settling in Port Townsend, WA. It was here that she learned about naturopathic medicine while doing computer work for a local naturopathic doctor. This inspired her to go back to undergraduate school, this time in Atlanta, GA, and earn her pre-med biology degree. In September of 2002, she began her journey atNational College of Natural Medicine where she graduated in June 2007. In the fall of 2009, after 2 years of residency at her alma mater, she decided to move back to the East coast to be near family and friends and to enjoy the Maine way of life.
Dr. McElveen is very excited to grow her practice here in Maine and hopes that she can do her part to bring naturopathic medicine to the forefront of New England healthcare.
